Schönbrunn Palace

Schönbrunn Zoo and Tropical House

Schönbrunn Zoo, located in the park of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna's 13th district of Hietzing, was founded by the Habsburgs in 1752 and is the oldest zoo in the world still in existence. The director of the zoo since 2020 is the zoologist Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck. Since 2006, the zoo has over 2 million visitors every year. On an area of 17 hectares, about 7,800 animals from 700 species can be seen. In Anthony Sheridan's Zoo Rankings, the zoo was named the best European zoo five times in a row (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2018). ORF - Küniglberg Center

Construction of the television center at Küniglberg began in 1969. The facility was completed in 1976. The location in the high area of the foothills of the Vienna Woods allows good directional radio links. The good accessibility in terms of traffic was also an advantage.
